Preston Peltier wins the Hutch BSR Pro Late Model 100 yet again Saturday night at Concord Speedway

Town & Country Ford’s Night at the Races winners include Preston Peltier in the Hutch/BSR Pro Late Model Division, Brian Conforth in the Town & Country Ford Late Models, Jim Fluharty in the Wilburn Auto Body INEX Thunder Cars, Brian Thomas in the Coca-Cola Pure Stocks Division and Tracy Mullis in the Tim Marburger Honda Fast & Furious Fours.

Preston Peltier won his third race of the season in the Hutch/BSR Pro Late Models.   This is the second win in a row for the Frazier Park, California native who broke the track record earlier in the day with a lap of 112.486 mph. Chase Pistone jumped out to an early lead after bringing the field to the green, until Peltier took the lead on lap sixteen. Daniel Johnson and Cooper Faassen’s Chevrolet Monte Carlos tangled in Turn Three on lap twenty-seven, bringing out the caution. Peltier went on to take the win, followed by Daniel Johnson in second and Cooper Faassen in third.

Brian Conforth of Cape Coral, Florida won the Town & Country Ford Late Model 100-lap race after passing points leader Steve Ackerly on lap sixty-six to take the lead.  This was Conforth’s first start at Concord Speedway in the 2009 season.  The race had one caution on lap thirty-seven for debris.  Ackerly of Medford, New York finished second followed by Joey Rinehardt of Concord in third.

Jim Fluharty broke Adam Welch’s winning streak in the Wilburn Auto Body INEX Thunder Car Division  after a breathtaking  battle as the two drivers ran bumper-to-bumper or side-to-side for lap after lap, almost crashing coming out of Turn Three on laps seventeen and twenty-nine, and swapping the lead too many times to count. Fluharty, of Concord, took the trophy in the Capital Bank Victory Lane followed by Welch, Trevor Farbo, Hunter Bledsoe and Rick Fleming rounding out the top five.

Brian Thomas barely edged out Randy McAnulty at the line to claim the victory in the Coca-Cola Pure Stocks race, his first win of the 2009 season.  The caution-free race had four lead changes with Jeff Melton, Steve Irvin, Randy McAnulty and Brian Thomas all leading during the thirty lap race, with lots of side-by-side action on the track. Randy McAnulty finished second with Charles Hutto third.

Tracy Mullis of Marshville won the Tim Marburger Honda Fast & Furious Fours contest after taking the lead on lap one and never looking back.  The only caution of the race came on lap one when Mike Loomis’ Chevrolet Cavalier and Debbie Hickman’s Ford Escort tangled exiting Turn One.  Wayne Harrington finished second and Ben Smith finished third.

The Legends and Bandoleros are on hiatus until August at Concord while the Summer Shootout runs the summer months at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
