Bobby Measmer, Jr. claims second season Pro Late Model win for T J’s Motorsports Warehouse Fan Appreciation Night

Bobby Measmer, Jr. claimed the Hutch BSR Pro Late Model trophy Saturday night at Concord Speedway. Other winners include Steve Ackerly in the Town & Country Ford Late Model Division, Adam Welch in the Wilburn Auto Body INEX Thunder Cars Division, Jeff Melton in the Coca-Cola Pure Stocks Division and Chad Miller in the Tim Marburger Honda Fast & Furious Fours Division.

Race fans came out to celebrate Tommy Johnson’s Motorsports Warehouse Fan Appreciation Night with great racing, great prizes and great food at Concord Speedway.

Bobby Measmer, Jr. took home his second victory of the season in his Racing Electronics/Buffalo Wild Wings Chevrolet Monte Carlo after taking the lead from Daniel Johnson when Measmer, Johnson and Mark Reedy went three-wide in Turn 3 on lap forty-four.   Daniel Johnson had led from lap eight when the took the lead from Jerick Johnson.  Bradley McCaskill had a fast car, moving from sixth to third by lap nineteen, but crashed on lap forty-three when he collided with Daniel Johnson and hit the inside retaining wall just past the start/finish line. Mark Reedy finished second and Jerick Johnson third.

Steve Ackerly dominated the Town & Country Ford Late Model race in his Town & Country Ford Taurus after taking the lead on lap one and fending off a hard-charging Terry Hoggard, at times racing side-by-side for the top spot.  This was the fourth victory of the season for the Medford, New York native.  Ackerly also won his fourth pole of the season.  Terry Hoggard finished second, followed by Jerry Miracle in third.

Adam Welch reclaimed his territory in the Capital Bank Victory Lane in the thirty-lap, caution-free feature at Concord Speedway, the exclusive regional home for the Wilburn Auto Body INEX Thunder Car Series. This was Welch’s seventh win in nine races.  Jim Fluharty finished second, followed by Hunter Bledsoe and Rick Fleming.

Jeff Melton won his third race of the season in his NASCAL-A1 Automotive Inspection Ford Thunderbird after taking the lead from David Earnhardt, Jr. on the restart of lap one of the race.  The first caution of the race came out on lap once after the defending race winner, Brian Thomas, spun in Turn Three.  The second yellow of the race waved on lap seven when Evan Cupples hit the inside retaining wall.  Melton beat second place finisher Brian Thomas to the line, followed by David Earnhardt, Jr. in third.

Chad “The Rocketman” Miller won his second race of the season when he took the checkered flag ahead of runner-up Wayne Harrington.  Miller led all fifty laps of the Tim Marburger Honda Fast & Furious Fours event.  The first caution of the race came out on lap twenty-five when the 14 car of Ben Smith lost a tire in turn three.  The fourth yellow waived on lap forty-eight when the 08 of Josh Grimes hit the outside wall under the scoreboard in Turn One, shot down the track, and hit the inside wall entering Turn Two.  Grimes escaped from the car while a fire erupted under the hood.  The speedway safety crew quenched the rather stubborn flame without any injuries.  The race finished  with a green, white, checkered shoot-out.  Matthew Grimes finished third.

Friday through Sunday June 26th through 28th the Professional Stuntman Invitational takes over Concord Speedway with a portion of the proceeds benefitting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  The spectacular stunt show features appearances by some of Hollywood’s best stuntmen!  Included are burn-out competitions, swap meet, car corral and much more.  For more information visit www.hazzardcountystuntteam.com or www.crazycarshow.com.   Advance tickets are available through Thursday in the track office.

Saturday the speedway awarded an $18, 000.00 value in complimentary tickets to drivers to be distributed in advance of the July 11th Cabarrus Visitors Bureau Driver Appreciation Night presented by USG Sheetrock.  Be friends with one of our drivers and you just might receive free tickets to the 11th of July races.

Resident Nights return to Concord Speedway this summer.  Cabarrus residents will be admitted for $5 on Independent-Tribune Newspaper Cabarrus County Night July 18th with proof of residence.  The track will honor Stanly County residents on the August 1st Tim Marburger Honda Stanly County Night presented by The Stanly News and Press.  Other county nights are scheduled later in the season.  A driver’s license or utility bill showing the home address is all that is need to receive the reduced rates.

Concord Speedway is located at 7940 U. S. Highway 601 South of Concord, NC 28025.  For information call 704-782-4221 or visit the website at www.concordspeedway.net
