Preston Peltier Wins Town & Country Ford 150 for the Hutch BSR Pro Late Models at Concord Speedway

CONCORD, N.C. – Preston Peltier wins the Hutch BSR Pro Late Model Division 150 lap feature race at Concord Speedway Saturday night while Travis McIntire takes home the victory in the Town and Country Ford Late Model Division 100 lap feature.  Other winners include Adam Welch in the Wilburn Auto Body INEX Thunder Cars Division, Randy McAnulty in the Coca Cola Pure Stock Division and Eric Harrington in the Tim Marburger Honda Fast and Furious Fours Division.

Peltier took the lead on lap twenty-two after slicing through the field from the last starting spot.  Peltier had the fastest qualifying time, but forfeited the pole award after qualifying with fuel that did not meet the specifications outlined in the Concord Speedway rule book.  Roger Lee Newton led the field to the green after setting a new track record in qualifying with Bobby Measmer, Jr. in second.  Newton pulled out to a quick lead with Measmer on his bumper as they battled on laps two and three.  The two went side by side across the start/finish line on lap four, with Measmer taking the lead on lap five.  Daniel Johnson and Roger Lee Newton then made contact on lap five, with Newton spinning in turn three.  Newton and Measmer battled the rest of the night, with Measmer finishing in second and Newton in third, followed by Faasen and Johnson in fourth and fifth.

Travis McIntire of Quincy, Ohio dominated the Town and Country Ford Late Models Division 100 lap race, lapping all cars except the second place runner Steve Ackerly by lap 66.  McIntire’s night started with a blistering 17.192 seconds lap during qualifying, setting a new track record.  Top qualifiers draw for the top seven starting positions, leaving Steve Ackerly on the pole.  McIntire took the lead from Ackerly on the first lap and never looked back.  The race had two cautions, one on lap thirty for debris and another on lap eighty-eight when Bobby Cooper spun in Turn One.  McIntire narrowly avoided hitting Cooper, squeezing between the 28 car and the wall with only inches to spare. McIntire won the race, followed by Ackerly, Jerry Miracle, Bobby Cooper and Reggie Carroll finishing in the top five.

Adam Welch won his fourth race in a row at in the Wilburn Auto Body INEX Thunder Cars at Concord Speedway after starting on the pole, qualifying with a speed of over 103 mph and leading all thirty laps. The Hinesburg, Vermont native is dedicating his season to his friend Steve Carter who passed away earlier this season after suffering a heart attack at the quarter mile track.  Welch leads the national standings and hopes to bring the national title back to Concord Speedway. He fought off a strong challenge from Hunter Bledsoe, who raced him bumper to bumper for six laps before Bledsoe got loose allowing the 71 to pull away unchallenged. Bledsoe finished second, followed by Jim Fluharty, Tony Wachter and Justin Allmon.

Randy McAnulty won his third race in a row in the Coca Cola Pure Stock Division after starting the race in the seventh position.  Brian Thomas brought the field to the green flag, but spun in turn one after Charles Hutto passed him for an early lead, bringing out the first caution of the race. The second caution came out on lap seven when John Schaak came to a stop in the middle of turn two due to mechanical problems.  McAnulty took the lead on lap eight and pulled away from the field.  He crossed the finish line first with Hutto in second, Thomas in third, David Earnhardt, Jr. in fourth and Jeff Melton fifth.

The Tim Marburger Honda Fast and Furious Fours Division lived up to its name with Wayne Harrington taking the lead  while four drivers  battled for the second position four wide on the first lap.   On lap two, pole sitter Josh Grimes blew a motor, bringing out the first caution of the night. Eric Harrington battled Brother Wayne Harrington for the lead, running side by side on lap eight, completing the pass in turn three, sending Wayne Harrington back to third.  Wayne Harrington and Tracy Mullis battled for second side by side on lap fourteen, with Wayne Harrington taking the second spot from Mullis on lap fifteen.  The night ended with Eric Harrington in the Capital Bank Victory Lane, followed by Wayne Harrington in second, with Tracy Mullis, Steve Grimes, and Barry Canter rounding out the top 5.
