Preston Peltier conquers Concord Speedway and wins the Hutch BSR Pro Late Model Race Saturday night.

Other winners include Terry Hoggard of Concord in the Town & Country Ford Late Model Division, Adam Welch of Hinesburg, Vermont in the Wilburn Auto Body INEX Thunder Cars, Randy McAnulty of Concord in the Coca-Cola Pure Stocks and Wayne Harrington of Landis in the Tim Marburger Honda Fast & Furious Fours.

Preston Peltier claimed another victory in his ARP/AP Brakes/Swift Springs Chevrolet Monte Carlo in the Hutch BSR Pro Late Model race. Larry Benz led the field at the start, but gave way to Bradley McCaskill on lap five. The first caution of the night waved on lap twenty-three when Cooper Faassen spun in Turn One. McCaskill maintained the lead on the lap thirty-three restart until Preseton Peltier took the lead from him on lap fifty-one.  Larry Benz spun in Turn Three on lap seventy-four, bringing out the second caution of the race. Peltier pulled out in front of the field on the double-file restart on lap seventy-nine, just edging past McCaskill.   Peltier defended the spot from a charging McCaskill, taking the victory in 100 lap race.  McCaskill finished second followed by Roger Lee Newton in third.

Terry Hoggard emerged victorious in the Town & Country Ford Late Models Division. The race had an electrifying start as Reggie Carroll barely edged past Bobby Cooper at the line to lead the first lap.  Jerry Miracle had worked his way to second by lap eight, but spun when he tangled with the 66 of Steve Ackerly in Turn Three, bringing out the first caution of the race. Terry Hoggard went door-to-door with Reggie Carroll for the lead on lap eleven.  The two were side by side going through Turn One, when Hoggard and Carroll collided, sending Carroll spinning after a near save, and bringing out the second caution of the race.  Hoggard took the lead at the restart and never looked back.  Hoggard took home the winner’s trophy in his Chevrolet Monte Carlo, followed by Joey Rinehardt in second and Michael Eplee in third.

The unstoppable Adam Welch took the checkers in the 30 lap INEX Thunder Car Division after taking the lead on lap two from Dustin Allmon and dominating the race.  It was Welch’s sixth win of this season.  Hunter Bledsoe finished second with Jim Fluharty third.

Randy McAnulty won the 30 lap Coca-Cola Pure Stock Division feature, but not without a challenge from Jeff Melton. It was the McAnulty and Melton show as the two battled for the lead from lap one to lap thirty, bringing the fans to their feet as the two battled side-by-side. The first caution came out on lap eighteen for fluid on the track.  McAnulty’s Carolina Pipe Cleaning/Leisure Tyme Rentals Chevrolet Nova jumped out to the lead again, with Melton’s NASCAL/A1 Automotive Inspection Ford Thunderbird on his bumper, while Brian Thomas, Steve Irvin and David Earnhardt, Jr. battled for third. “I want to thank all the fans for being here; we couldn’t do it without the fans,” said McAnulty in victory lane. Jeff Melton finished second and Brian Thomas finished third.

Wayne Harrington dominated the Tim Marburger Honda Fast & Furious Fours race in his Honda Prelude after leading all 50 laps, from the drop of the green to the drop of the checkers.  The race had two cautions, the first on lap 55 with Tracy Mullis lost a tire, and the second for debris on the front stretch.  Harrington thanked his son, a Marine, during the Capital Bank Victory Lane celebrations, who was home for a three-day leave. Barry Canter finished second with Mike Loomis rounding out the top three.

Friday night’s events at the quarter mile track were postponed until Sunday, August 30 due to inclement weather. The Legends and Bandoleros will be in hiatus until August at Concord while the Summer Shootout runs the summer months at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

The half-mile TriOval hosts Open House and Open Practice on Friday, June 12.  Pit gates open at 5:30 p.m. with rotating practice for all divisions from 6:30 until 9:00 PM.  Pit Passes are $20 while grandstand admission is free.
